Physarum Form-Finding at Badab Surt, Golestan
A speculative resort at Badab Surt, Golestan, where slime-mold circulation and Ladybug environmental analysis together drive site positioning and building form.
Slime Resort draws from biological computation, specifically the behavior of slime molds, to generate circulation and connectivity across the site. Using the Physarum algorithm, which models nutrient optimization, the building's plan evolved from simulated pathways connecting food-source nodes representing programmatic spaces.
The process began with site analysis through Grasshopper's Ladybug plugin, evaluating environmental performance and mapping optimal regions. The slime-mold simulation then produced efficient, non-redundant circulation networks that became the project's spatial backbone, forming sub-lobbies and structural nodes at intersections. This fusion of data-driven environmental analysis and biological modeling allowed the architecture to self-organize through algorithmic logic.
